From Dec 22nd 2008 Ricky is visiting his Mother & sisters in Mackay, N'Qld. He will be away until Jan 27th 2009. I have spoken to Ricky several times since he left & he seems to be having a nice time. Ricky has spent Christmas with his Mum & sisters for the first time in a few years. 14th April 2007 - 6:25am - Ricky has boarded the plane bound for Mackay for a two week holiday with his mum & 1/2 sister Megan. Ricky is travelling an an unaccompanied minor on Qantas. The flight has 1 stopover in Brisbane for 55 minutes & then on to Mackay arriving at 10:40am. I hope he has a great time & I am already missing him.

Good news.My cast was removed after x-ray on Monday & the Dr says I am to keep using crutches for 6 more weeks slowly increasing the amount of weight on my leg. I am having physiotherapy appointments fortnightly & sent home with lots of exercises for my knee, ankle, foot & leg muscles to get them all working properly again. Dad was, yesterday, moved to the Stroke Care ward.He was seen a couple of days ago by the Re-hab team & they want to admit him to their ward, just waiting now for a bed. Neuro Dr seems not to understand that dad has deteriorated significantly since Christmas! So it's good that the Re-Hab team have seen him.

Guess what!Today I had my cast changed.I saw the orhtopod who said my leg has begun to heal & that I could have my cast changed from the full leg cast to a half leg cast. What a relief, finally some improvement after 10 weeks.The new cast is much lighter & I am now able to bend my knee. The surgeon wants to see me again in 4 weeks for another x-ray & hopes the cast may finally be able to come off

Yesterday about 1pm a bushfire broke out near the top corner of our street in Broulee. The NSW Rural Fire Service came to the rescue with several appliances forcing the fire away from homes & were able to let the fire burn through to the beach just 1 street away from us. What a beautiful day here at Broulee! Sunny a light breeze & warm surf. The surf was closed for a while this afternoon as there were too many dangerous rip's, but re-opened again after about 30 minutes when the lifeguards found a more suitable spot for the flags, they told me they had done 8 rescues this morning!
